Take the Next Step: Talk to Your Doctor

It's time to tune in to your hep C.

Everyone's story is different. That's why it is so important to talk to your doctor or healthcare provider and be mindful of your liver health today and down the road.

Doing nothing is not an option. Are you ready to take the next step?

Are you ready to take the next step?

It's time to tune in to your chronic hepatitis C. Take a few minutes to think about the statements below. (Be as honest as you can.) If these apply to you, take the next step and talk to your doctor or healthcare provider. Taking action is the first step.

  • I am concerned about my long-term health
  • I know about my chronic hepatitis C and my options
  • I know my physician will support and encourage me
  • I am motivated to take control of my chronic hepatitis C
  • I have a support network who will help me and listen to me
Are you at risk for chronic hepatitis C?

It's time to tune in to your chronic hepatitis C.Take a few minutes to think about the statements below. (Be as honest as you can.) If these apply to you, take the next step and talk to your doctor or healthcare provider. Taking action is the first step.

Think about a doctor visit you may have had recently or in the past. During any of those visits, were you:
  • experiencing tiredness that your doctor couldn't explain?
  • told about elevated liver enzyme test (ALT) results?
  • diagnosed with HIV?
  • diagnosed with hepatitis B?
There are stricter procedures in place now for screening blood and cleaning medical tools. But have you ever:
  • had a blood transfusion before 1992?
  • had an organ transplant before 1992?
  • received blood products for hemophilia before 1987?
  • had kidney dialysis?
You may have come in contact with an infected person's blood if you ever shared:
  • piercing or tattoo tools (contaminated needles/ink)
  • manicure/pedicure tools
There are other things you may have done–even years ago–that could put you at risk. Have you recently or in the past:
  • had unprotected sex with someone infected?
  • shared needles with someone infected (even if it only happened once)?
Do you work with blood, blood products, or needles for a living?
  • Yes
  • No
Have you ever served in the military?
  • Yes
  • No
Has a family member ever been diagnosed with chronic hepatitis C, or has any of the above ever happened to them?
  • Yes
  • No

Behind the Scenes

Want to spend the day with Gregg Allman? Visit "The Big House," where the Allman Brothers Band lived together during one of their most creative periods in the early 1970s. After extensive renovation, it's now become The Allman Brothers Band Museum.
